In my view , a good teacher is one who should have a full subject knowledge of what he is teaching in addition to following three qualities . He should

· set high expectations which inspire, motivate and challenge pupils.

This is done by establish a safe and stimulating environment for pupils, rooted in mutual respect ,sets goals that stretch and challenge pupils of all backgrounds, abilities and dispositions and demonstrate consistently the positive attitudes, values and behaviour which are expected of pupils.

· Plan and teach well-structured lessons.

By impart knowledge and develop understanding through effective use of lesson time. In addition, promote a love of learning and children’s intellectual curiosity by setting homework and planning other out-of-class activities to consolidate and extend the knowledge and understanding pupils have acquired .Furthermore reflect systematically on the effectiveness of lessons and approaches to teaching and contribute to the design and provision of an engaging curriculum within the relevant subject area(s).

· Manage behaviour effectively to ensure a good and safe learning environment.

In these times when behavior is a serious hurdle in the way of progressive teaching and learning ,a good teacher should have clear rules and routines for behavior in classrooms , and take responsibility for promoting good and courteous behavior both in classrooms and around the school, in accordance with the school’s behaviour policy .IN addition, he should have high expectations of behavior, and establish a framework for discipline with a range of strategies, using praise, sanctions and rewards consistently and fairly . He should have an ability to manage classes effectively, using approaches which are appropriate to pupils’ needs to involve and motivate them . Additionally , he maintains good relationships with pupils, exercise appropriate authority, and act decisively when necessary.

In conclusion, a good teacher should be a role model who has a big responsibility of moulding the future of young people and the nation broadly. He should be one who create a long-lasting motivation to learn and strive in his students by being positive and enthusiastic about the way he interact with students and his fellow colleagues.
