Commas in basic lists

I DO:

This is a shopping list:

Lidl:

bread

eggs

cheese

milk

pasta

carrots

broccoli

onions

minced beef

chicken

coffee

sugar

cornflakes

If we were to write this as a

sentence, we would have to use commas:

Lidl:

I need to buy bread, eggs, cheese, milk, pasta, carrots, broccoli, onions, minced beef, chicken, coffee, sugar and cornflakes.

NOTICE – before the last word, there is NO comma, just the word ‘and’.

This is the same rule for any list, no matter what things are the list.

ØI went to the park, the church, the shop and the museum.
ØGet me coke, cake, chocolate and crips.
ØThe zoo has lions, tigers, bears, elephants, chimpanzees and lizards.

YOU DO:

Add in the commas and the final ‘and’:

1. Will you make all of the badges shirts flags posters baseball caps?●2. Climb any hill mountain trail forest path to get fit.●3. Please hold my keys phone watch book pen.
