Drawing from my past experience of once being an `underachiever` in Mathematics, I strongly believe that it is a subject that cannot be mastered in a short period of time. Also it is not a subject that you will shine through by using your innate talent only. You need to practice enough and frequently in order to do well, or exceedingly well. I have seen some cases where students are willing to put in 100% effort do better than those with just special ability, including myself. Students need to be equipped with confidence within the subject, as this will help you to solve problems. I have seen many students, peers and myself confidence disappear when it came to Mathematics. However, I have also seen many cases where children learn by making mistakes by amending their misconceptions as I once did. So they should not be afraid of getting things wrong, as this will be an invaluable platform for them to gain confidence, I strive to help students achieve this by using methods that my private tutor once used as it made me pursue Mathematics to a higher standard and become confident in the subject.
