Many students find that they excel during lessons. They are what you would describe as the `model student` Homework is completed on time and their hand is first to go up to answer a question. They actively participate in lessons and the teacher seems happy.

So why do they struggle on exams? Are they not being taught the correct information?

Well this is what I like to call `The bridge`. During lessons a teacher can break down subject content to help your child understand. However in an exam `everyday language` is not always used and consequently your child is thrown off by unfamiliar language.

It is vital for teachers to build the bridge back once they have broken it down for the child. Otherwise they will struggle to understand exam questions...particularly the essay questions because they cannot see the actual question through the jargon that is actually intended to throw them off. This is what separates the A* - C students from the D - G students.
