If you are a Finance Student, you are probably being taught a lot of theory about how Finance should be, and little about how it really is. Financial theories are just that, models trying to describe and explain a complex system based on the actions of millions of individuals in the Financial markets. I find it useful to have a real understanding of how the investment world really works.

One of my favourite sources of free information is a website called seeking alpha : www.seekingalpha.com. It`s a crowdsourced platform for financial commentary and analysis that constantly updating its members for free on the news flow in the markets they are following. Some articles are very well written and can provide real case studies in how to analyse companies and how to make sense of the economic data that is flooding the investment world every day.

Another free source of such information is the public website of Financial data giants Bloomberg : www.bloomberg.com. It has a lot of real time data and quite a few articles to keep in touch with what`s going on in the business world every day. I feel that reading these sources can be a great way to put the theory taught in lectures in context, and develop a realistic understanding of the Finance and business arenas.
