Although learning how to do mathematic calculations is important for a good grade it is also more important learning the test paper. By this I do not mean cheating, I do however mean finding out which test paper you are doing. If it is Pearson: Edexcel or Oxford, Cambridge and RSA Examinations (OCR). Although they are expected to have similar type's questions the layout will be different. Getting used to doing a test in the layout that you will be tested on will help you do your best.

The second thing you need to know when it comes to maths tests sometimes the numbers is not the important part, it is the equations and what the test is really doing is seeing how you use equations. I am not saying disregard numbers as they are important but learning how to use an equations and when to use that equations that is more important.

The third thing to remember is the time frame and resources you have to achieve your best. For example if you are setting your exams in one year's time then you will be able to focus on every little detail, while if your example is in 1 months' time you can skim over everything and then focus on the major parts or parts that you are struggling with.
