I am 45 years old. My teaching style focuses on being patient and approachable. I make sure my students enjoy each lesson which makes them more open to learning and look forward to the next lesson.
I have taught 11+ to one or two students a year since I moved to Lincolnshire 8 years ago. My approach is based on building a good relationship with the child to put them at their ease. I use past papers and start by working through them together with no time limits, making sure they are familiar with all the question types. As the child grows in confidence, they take over the initiative until they are working independently with me as reassurance. I then start to ask them to work within the time limits. The skills that I instil in my students are not solely aimed at the 11+ but also help to prepare them for Year 6 and beyond. Before moving to Lincolnshire, I taught Year 6 for many years and also run my own tutoring business, teaching from 7 to 16. In the last few years I have concentrated on teaching both 11+ and GCSE Maths. I hope this helps you understand my approach and experience. Zoe
