Information about Saima

I am a fully qualified Science teacher specialising in Chemistry at Key stages 3,4 and 5 currently working at a local independent school in Reading and a specialist exam marker for both Edexcel and AQA exam boards. I am therefore highly qualified and experienced with pupils of all abilities. My degrees in Pharmacology and Neuropharmacology help bring a real life perspective to the use and technologies in Chemistry particularly in some of the AS and A level topics.

I have taught the OCR GCSE and AQA Science courses, including chemistry, physics and biology, at both Triple and Double science levels. I also currently teach OCR Chemistry A as AS level and have taught BTEC Applied Science in the past.

My teaching grades speak in my teaching profession for themselves with 100% pass rate in GCSE Chemistry and 56% levels 8-9 in the summer exams.

I am also an approved exams moderator for the Edexcel and AQA exam boards and so have an invaluable experience in answering exam style questions to achieve that all elusive Level 9.

I am a very patient and approachable person. I enjoy teaching all aspects of science from KS3 all the way through to A Level. I believe in making learning fun and as enjoyable as possible through personal learning. My pharmaceutical experience can help provide `How Science Works` insight and provide the extra motivation that comes from within. Through positive reward behaviour, support and encouragement, I believe learning will be less stressful and more successful.

As a private tutor, I take an approach where I establish areas of work where the student needs further assistance. The student can highlight the areas of difficulties and then through a combination of learning activities and questioning to aid confidence, knowledge is then assessed based on assessment of past exam questions highlighting misconceptions and errors.

Availability: As a full time teacher, I am only available in the evenings but mainly at the weekends. Contact me to find out if I can fit in you in my scheduled tutoring timetable. It is easier for me to accommodate you if you commute to me as I have the resources here In my study ideally at the weekends but whenever is convenient and suitable for both parties. Cancellation within 24 hours notice period will endure a full charge.

Willing to travel: Home Only

Experience: I have 9 years experience in teaching the AQA GCSE Science course, including chemistry, physics and biology, at both Triple and Double science levels. I also have 5 years experience in currently teach Edexcel Chemistry as AS level and 3 years of teaching the BTEC Level 2 Applied Science as part of my teaching timetable at school, both of which I thoroughly enjoy.

In my private tutoring work, I had 10 students at GCSE science , who all had recently received levels 7-9 grades in their final exams this summer, a considerable increase from their grades in their mocks. With a clear focus on exam techniques, subject knowledge and preparation, these pupils have exceeded their targets grades and are achieved high grades in the final exams.

For your personal safety and satisfaction, I have a recent CRB/DRB valid from September 2010
