Information about Russell
I specialise in private tuition of children in maths and all the sciences, primarily at Common Entrance, KS3, GCSE and AS/A Level and occasionally teach in schools however, I am equally happy coaching and mentoring adults the above subjects at all those levels. I also teach (adults and teenagers) English as a Foreign Language (TEFL/TESOL), including business and other professional specialisations, on a one to one basis and can provide intensive ("total immersion") courses, of one or more weeks, with meals and accommodation provided in our family home.
In addition to traditional academic subjects above, I have a great deal of valuable experience as both a practitioner and a manager (especially project management) in science and technology settings and am happy to consider mentoring and coaching in any topics in those areas in which prospective tutees and I agree that I have the knowledge and experience necessary to ensure that such an arrangement would be valuable to them.
I am able to recommend tutors of a number of other subjects, who are fellow members of a local network of tutors.
Availability: During the months running up to exams, I am generally fully booked (but, if you are desperate, it is worth asking whether I have any spare capacity). At other times in the year, I am always in considerable demand, but can usually accommodate new students. Needless to say, I always give priority to the needs of my long-standing tutees as demand exceeds availability in the run-up to exams. I am happy to travel any reasonable distance, providing that the amount of tuition per session and/or compensation for travel is sufficient to make the arrangement commercially viable.
Willing to travel: 30 miles
Experience: I am a qualified school teacher and teacher of EFL/ESOL, registered with the General Teaching Council, with considerable experience in one to one tutoring of maths, all the sciences and EFL (contact details of many satisfied clients are available). I also have a great deal of experience in a number of professions (details on request).

My son is having Biology tuition with Russell and is finding it very useful. He has only had 3 lessons so far, but has found Russell to have a pleasant manner and to be thorough with his teaching. Very happy.

Russell has been tutoring our son in GCSE Science for over 2 months and between them they are making good progress. As well as helping to improve our sons grades in Science his tutoring also seems to have had a positive effect on his overall approach to learning. Russell clearly has a good knowledge of the Sciences and is willing and able to either suggest topics to study or focus on any subject area that our son needs particular help with. He has a ground up approach, so is keen to ensure that the basics are fully understood before addressing anything more complex. He is also not a clock watcher and will often continue passed the allotted time to ensure that he completes what he is teaching. On a personal level, Russell is very easy to talk to, responsive to emails/texts and flexible in terms of the times that he can tutor.
