I am approachable,easygoing and pragmatic. My tutoring style is open discussion and practical application, that encourages active and creative participation in both my direct and online sessions to engage and promote interactive learning. I work with a wide range of online content and materials, I encourage learners to understand from first principles,and in a step by step graduated way help them organise their knowledge and ideas, summarise, apply critical analysis (where appropriate) using techniques such as annotated notes, mind-maps and other methods that uses interactive media to optimise learning, memory retention and increase synoptic (bring it all together) understanding.

My approach helps to build confidence in the subject and the ability to learn and apply new knowledge by connecting topics and ideas, and then applying it. Once these techniques become second nature, you develop the ability to learn and revise more quickly .

Additionally, I tutor using resources and methods to support students meet their own specified education curriculum assessment criteria in exam questions; skills such as interpretation, summary, critical analysis, organisation and structure to present inferences ,insights and perception in their responses and, express themselves using key terms and more sophisticated vocabulary.

I have over 20 years tutoring and coaching in a wide range of subjects, all of which require a strong grounding in the use of English, and the application of the core knowledge and principles of Science and Maths. The emphasis in all of these is to support students become independent learners, expand their vocabulary, techniques that enable them to go beyond the explicit (what is being said), explore and interpret (infer) the (implicit) and demonstrate their written skills. This approach has been particularly helpful to students who have gaps in their learning, transitioning from one learning institution to another or have missed learning topics.

I tutor and support students with their learning and preparation from KS2 (including Sats, 11+) and connect this to their higher learning, especially the formative foundation Years 7-9 through to KS4 (GCSE) for all the curriculums,( Education Awarding Bodies) in English Language, English Literature,Maths and Sciences

It gives me real pleasure when students surprise themselves with their new understanding and impressed by their own capability.

Availability: I tutor face to face and online,during the day (for homeschooling), evenings and on weekends, subject to availability at my home .
I have invested in interactive online tutoring systems for over 15 years, that enables true personal interactivity, is secure and easy to use and reliable tools that facilitate screen share, active reviewing and student writing notes. This is especially effective for exam preparation, assisting with dissertations and essays. These tools can also record a session for future revision and reference.
