Information about Nick
I am an experienced biology and science teacher and tutor. I offer tutoring for OCR and AQA Biology A level. Sorry but I do not tutor Edexcel A or B. I also tutor AQA biology, Chemistry and Double Science for GCSE. Sorry but I only offer AQA syllabus content for GCSE.
I have an approachable, patient and friendly attitude and believe students should feel comfortable asking as many questions as they feel necessary until they fully understand a concept. Individual tuition improves a student`s confidence in the subject and this not only helps their performance in exams but enables them to get the best out of their studies at school.
My style is to work with you on areas you have identified as weak. We will then work to ensure you have a thorough understanding of all areas of your syllabus content. I will provide resources for you to improve your confidence with the subject material.
I will also prepare you specifically for your exam using past papers from your exam board. I can help you with exam technique giving you both the knowledge and exam confidence to achieve the top of your potential.
Availability: I currently have a few spaces available from September 2023.
I tutor mainly online using an excellent whiteboard and lots of other resources. I will also tutor students at my home in Guilden Morden where I have all my resources.
Sorry but I do not visit students homes.
The duration of each tutorial session can be 1 hour or more depending on the student’s personal requirements.

Experience: I have tutored for many years and since retiring I focussed fully on home tutoring. During the pandemic I tutored online, but I am now also tutoring students at my home.

Nick was a fantastic tutor to my daughter and really helped her where unfortunately her teachers had failed in this specific A level subject. This is her feedback: Nick was an amazing tutor and I would thoroughly recommend him to others. Nick has well developed resources to effectively teach me the topics I had highlighted as being weaker areas. He teaches them in a concise and logical way that allowed me to gain a thorough understanding of each topic, allowing my grades to go from D’s to a A/B pretty quickly. Nick has been an outstanding tutor to my daughter over the last 24 months for A level Biology. His knowledge on the subject is second to none and his approach is thorough. Nick would liaise with my daughter prior to every lesson to ensure she got the most from it and then follow up with handouts to support what they had discussed and reinforce the lesson content. I would most definitely recommend him. My daughter’s confidence grew considerably with Nick and she went from at best a grade C to being predicted an A* / A. Nick is caring, kind and easy to talk to. Nick is an excellent tutor and provided my daughter with a good start in understanding A level Biology as this is not easy subject. The feedback from my daughter after Nick`s lesson ended was: "I couldn`t do this subject without Nick" and she was always keen to attend his lessons to do well. We know that Nick`s tutoring increased my daughter`s knowledge and his teaching would have had increased her results if she had taken the exam this year.
