Information about Natalie
Since qualifying as a teacher in 2002, my career has been varied, exciting and thoroughly enjoyable. My confidence in the classroom has grown over the years both in my ability to lead the students to a successful history qualification, as well as passing on to them my passion for history. I recently returned to the UK having spent the past 4 years living and teaching in California, USA. Teaching abroad has been the biggest challenge I have faced in my career to date. The skills I have acquired as a result of that experience include flexibility as well as dynamism. The opportunity to teach in California was an ambition achieved and it broadened my mind along with continuing to help me be a reflective practitioner. I have a calm and controlled teaching style with a firm but fair approach. I have always enjoyed excellent results from the students I have taught and have successfully recruited above average numbers of students to take History as an option in both the schools I have worked in so far.
Private tutoring has become a real passion for me, hence the reason I would like to broaden the net in my search for students - I am also keen to develop my online tutoring - something I thoroughly enjoy doing for itself and also the flexibility it offers in allowing me to also raise a young family. I enjoy motivating and transferring my passion for history to students as well as helping those who find the subject challenging and may need extra support. I see my role as a History teacher has an important place both in and out of the classroom.

Experience: I have been a History teacher for the past 10 years having qualified and gained QTS in 2001. I spent 4 years teaching history at an all girls 11-18 grammar school in Buckinghamshire. I then moved to San Francisco, USA for 4 years where I worked in a private bay area prep school teaching history to 13-18 year olds. I am now back in the UK and have been private tutoring for the past year to GCSE and A level students. I have also been an examiner for Edexcel and more recently OCR.
I currently work at an independent girls school in Cambridge.
