A Passionate University Maths Graduate Teacher with over 25 years Experience. I am an academic tutor with mindset, confidence and motivation (MCM) as the basis of what I do. In my experience children can fall behind and perform poorly due to not having the right MCM. The children I work with shows best progress once I am able to help them feel good about themselves and knowing that they can achieve their best. The strategy I used is tailored to the individual student and their needs.

I help secondary student with study tips and guide them to think carefully about their career choices by helping them exploring available options that match their interest and hobbies. Most teenagers are confused when it comes to career choices and parents are not always the best person to handle this as some parents already decide what the child should study which is not always agreeable.

I also help primary children get ready for that all important transition to secondary school. This can be quite nerve racking for some children who start developing anxiety from as early as year 4. The key to this is to arm them with the right information.

As I only see the students mostly once a week, I work in partnership with the parents by empowering them to support the children at home. The goal is to empower the children to go back to school and confidently engage with their learning, strive in that environment and ultimately get the best grades.

I believe babies/toddler can read and this will eliminate the confusion around the use of phonics as their first introduction to reading. Give your child the best start to their education journey while it will be fun and a not a requirement therefore adding pressure to you and your child hence starting the erosion of self confidence for some.
