I am an English and Media studies teacher working in an all-through school in the London borough of Barking and Dagenham. I have three children all primary school aged which has given me a broad knowledge of phonics and teaching this to a broad spectrum of ages.

I can offer:
-tutoring for English at primary school level
-11+ tutoring in English
-KS3 (years 7-9 in secondary school) to help boost confidence and raise attainment in preparation for
-GCSE English all papers
-Media studies post 16 courses

Reading is the gateway to every part of the national curriculum and every subject within it. Reading is the cornerstone of a students literacy journey. I believe all aspects of literacy can be taught. I welcome an initial discussion with parents about the needs of the student. All sessions will be run in conjunction with the relevant national curriculum. When students start to experience progress or success, we all see a positive transformation in students` confidence and self esteem.

Experience: I have been a secondary school teacher teaching English and Media Studies for the last 11 years. I am currently completing an NPQ in leading literacy and have come to specialise in raising reading attainment for secondary school pupils. I have spent time developing my knowledge of phonics and how this can help raise reading attainment in secondary school pupils. This can then help students utilise talk for learning and then finally apply this to their writing. Also spent 9 years teaching Media and Film Studies. Currently teaching the CTEC at post 16.
