Hazel

I am a qualified primary teacher with over 20 years experience of teaching in primary schools, with the West Sussex Adult Learning Service, and as a private tutor. I currently provide face to face and online tuition in English, dyslexia and maths tuition to a number of children and adults on a weekly basis. Most of the children I tutor have now been with me for several years. They are all making good progress and achieving positive school reports and feedback.
By providing 1:1 support, I enable students to develop a solid understanding of literacy/English and numeracy through a gentle and patient approach, understanding of their learning needs through discussion, observation and ongoing assessment, and a passion to see each student move towards fulfilling their potential.

I am writing in reference to my daughter and nephew`s tutor, Hazel. She has done lots of great work with them, helping them with their reading as well as their letter formation. She is also helping my daughter with some aspects of her maths i.e. times tables, number formation etc.
Both my daughter and nephew look forward to their sessions with her each week as she makes them fun and has developed a really good working
relationship with them both.
My daughter was diagnosed with dyslexia last year and she has made great progress in the last couple of months since she started working with Hazel, my nephew doesn`t have an official diagnosis but displays similar problems to my daughter. I would highly recommend Hazel as a tutor, especially in terms of dyslexic children.

Hazel has given my son one to one tuition for the last few years at weekends and in the school holidays. My son is dyslexic. Specifically he has difficulties with working memory.
Hazel understood and interpreted his difficulties immediately and customised both maths and English tuition for him. She also took time to discover his interests and learning style and found suitable books and exercises to engage his interest and motivate him. He was always comfortable with her patient and calm style of teaching. Alex concentrated and worked hard during his one hour sessions. He has made progress and gained in confidence during his time with Hazel.

Experience: I qualified as a KS2 primary teacher with a B.Ed 2:1 in 1996.
I taught in West Sussex primary schools as a contract and supply teacher from 1996 - 2003
I worked as a West Sussex Adult Learning Service literacy, numeracy & special needs(dyslexia) tutor from 2002 - 2010.
I have been a private tutor in English, numeracy, special needs and dyslexia tutoring since 2002.
Summer 2012: I delivered Grammar school entrance/SATs revision classes in maths and English to Yr4-6 children with Crawley Tuition.
I have provided private English, maths and special needs/dyslexia tuition to children and adults for the last 15 years, from 2002 to the present.
