Information about Christine
.
I have been a private tutor for 25 years., running my own business and serving my local area. I successfully transferred my skills online 10 years ago. I specialise in support for classroom studies and exam techniques, providing an alternate, more relaxed environment to the school whereby students can feel comfortable and ask the questions they need to in order to progress with their studies. The classroom environment often does not provide for students to adequately learn new skills, practice them and then use them successfully in exams. I give students the opportunity to ask how a mistake is rectified and allow them to ask as many times as they need to in order to understand the process. This is especially true in the case of technical accuracy which is high making component of all GCSE English exams. I am also experienced in dealing with students with Dyslexia, Aspergers Dyspraxia and autism, finding methods for the individual to reach their potential with individual strategies. Many students who have been diagnosed, and those undiagnosed, are left wit h the feeling of they cannot achieve like their peers, that they are not smart enough. I aim to show them that this is not the case and adjustments to the way they approach tasks can help them to advance their studies successfully. I have been a French speaker from a young age , having lived with my French grandmother. I have always chosen French as part of my studies and successfully tutor conversation and business French, as well as ks3 through to undergraduate . I also give advice and practical help to degree level students with the organisation and writing of their assignments and dissertations in a variety of disciplines.

Availability: As I work purely within the area of private tuition I am available weekdays, evenings and weekends
Willing to travel: 10 miles
Experience: One to one tuition offers the opportunity to provide an alternative approach to the classroom environment. Each student has different ways of learning and committing to paper the results of their studies My aim is too improve the confidence of the student and provide the skills necessary to achieve both in the classroom and in examinations. I work to form a rapport with the tutee which encourages them to feel able to ask questions and to have a positive input in the lesson. I aim to identify the problems encountered by the student in their studies and solve them with patience and understanding. In many cases schools do not give enough time to practising exam papers and teaching techniques to aid success. I supply past papers, teach how to approach individual questions and advise on time allocation. These papers are marked and discussed giving the student feedback as to their progress and the knowledge of how to correct their mistakes and gain higher grades.
I encourage students with special needs to develop their own coping mechanisms individually designed to improve the effect their particular learning disability has on their academic performance. This is done in conjunction with teaching regular methods used to improve their skills and achievement in the classroom and examinations
