Information about Charlotte

I am a multilingual humanities tutor. My main teaching areas are history and French and I also support students in areas that relate to my own research including literature, sociology, and politics. I have particular interest in in essay-writing, revision, and exam technique, for GCSE/IGCSE, A Level/IB and undergraduate and graduate students.

I have tutored students for the 11 + , students in secondary schools and mature students for the IB but also for AQA, OCR and Edexel boards.

I am a patient yet dynamic teacher and I am capable to adapt to my pupils` learning styles, while also keeping key goals in mind. I am able to make working on essay planning and structure enjoyable and use a variety of activities to focus on knowledge building.

I have tutored for over 10 years principally in London but I have also done residential placements abroad.
I am a keen runner and ice skater and enjoy London`s cultural life. I am also a member of Art emergency which offers mentoring to teenagers.

I tend to work with different materials: newspaper articles or literary texts for advanced students or more easier books/ songs/ film extracts for beginners or intermediates.
With more advanced students, I enjoy debating specific issues, comparing viewpoints - this can also be useful for essays and academic works, in literature or history.
I am also keen on helping students to improve their essay structure and research skills both in French and history.

One of the most important elements of my lessons is that you speak a lot and feel free to ask me about points that you find hard to understand.
