Information about Christina

ECONOMICS AND MATHEMATICS

I am a qualified and experienced economics and business studies and maths teacher and curriculum lead at a sixth form high school in London. I have also been a freelance tutor for over seven years. I have taught the same economics and business curriculum to overseas students at an undergraduate college in London. Most of my students have scored an A or even an A* at their A-level exams. Some of my students have gained admission to Russell Group universities. I am familiar with CIE, OCR, Edexcel, AQA and IB exam board requirements.

My secondary maths PGCE vouches for state of the art tuition of Functional Skills, university entry exams, GCSE and KS3 mathematics. Practising latest exam boards` syllabus (Edexcel, AQA, Functional Skills AQA, Open University admissions) and exam strategies is a key driver of my lessons. I have successfully addressed my students` confidence issues at maths by working at their pace first of all. I get my students to `see the glass half full rather than half empty`, which is always a game-changer and even gets them to enjoy maths. My maths school teaching experience has proven to be effective for tutees at secondary schools, grammar schools and indeed further education colleges alike.

I tailor-make each economics and maths tuition to each of students. I teach them crucial working methodology, revision and exam techniques, I prepare exam success with them in good time. My students have stuck to my tuition for a reason.

You will find my lessons time well spent not only for AS- and A-level or IB exams but also for admission to top tier undergraduate university courses.

My timely and high impact tutoring is right for undergraduate university level, International Baccalaureate, A-level and AS-level. I have led local and overseas students of different abilities to exam success under normal and under more challenging conditions. I have also worked with boarding school pupils during their holidays, in particular if their school does not offer any tailor-made exam preparation.
In my sessions, my students benefit from my undergraduate lecturing and grading experience at economics, international business and accounting.

My tutoring track record includes students and alumni of the following schools: Kings College School, Tiffin Girls School, Ursuline High School for Girls, Wimbledon College, Wallington Grammar School for Girls, Greenshaw High School; Richard Challoner School, Hinchley Wood School, Esher College, Burntwood School; Ewell Castle School, St John`s School Leatherhead, Ibstock Place, Bradfield College, Ardingly College; University of Sussex; self-studying A-level students sitting exams as external candidates.

"Christina has been an amazing tutor for my son. She taught my son for the last 14 months and improved his grades in economics greatly. She taught with a sense of openness and humility which created a comfortable environment for him to learn in. Her lessons were engaging and proactive and all of her feedback on homework was detailed and constructive which helped him steadily build on his progress and achieve his potential. It was a pleasure working with her."

Client S` testimonial as of 11th June 2018 (quotation):
"My daughter had a great learning experience with Christina. Christina`s greatest strength is the depth of her knowledge in Economics and this quality is well supplemented by her enthusiastic, flexible and friendly attitude. Christina explains the more challenging topics with detailed notes and this improves the learning process significantly. I would definitely recommend Christina as a very strong Economics tutor for the A levels."

Christina tutored me in both GCSE and A-level maths in preparation for a University degree. It had been over 10 years since I had revisited some of these topics, and, some topics were totally new to me. I achieved a C grade in GCSE Mathematics, admittedly my worst grade of the bunch, and I didn`t study A-level maths. My course consisted of 8 modules and I had 4 weeks to complete it and take the exam to secure my University place. I was working full time as a Digital Lead, managing a team of 5 reports and very stressful project launches at the time. I contacted a number of tutors but due to the nature of this specific course, many couldn`t cater for my needs. Christina was organised and thorough, she understood I was working up against an exam deadline whilst juggling the course alongside my full time job. Christina combed through each of the modules, tailoring her lesson plans accordingly and setting relevant homework. We covered Fractions, Trigonometry, Powers, Algebra, Probability, Statistics (including standard deviation and sampling). Christina was encouraging when I struggled or faced challenges, which was often. I really appreciated this because Maths was always a subject I struggled in at school and swore never to revisit again. Our sessions were often late in the evening after a full days work, Christina made sure her pace reflected this but still kept us on track to complete the module outcomes. Christina makes her sessions engaging, clear, and without pressure. I highly recommend her. My review for Christina is LONG overdue, we completed the course last Summer and I spent the latter half of last year leaving my job, moving house and have just finished the first term of my degree. I`m so pleased to be able to say that I achieved a mark of 80! in my first quantative assignment, which relied heavily on the content Christina taught me in the latter half of the course (probability and stats). Thank you Christina!

Christina is a very good maths tutor to work with. She is efficient, well organised, patient and knows how to encourage her students to arrive at the answers to the problems she gives without doing the work for them. We fully recommend her as a tutor, very pleased we chose Christina.
