I am an energetic and enthusiastic English teacher currently employed as one of five Hub Leaders at The City of Leicester College. Having taken the `Teach First` route into teaching, I have been judged as `outstanding` in lesson observations with specific comments made about the engaging and enjoyable nature of my lessons. The progress that students make within lessons has also been regarded as `excellent`. Having started tutoring in Leicester over a year ago (June 2012), I have found it to be an extremely rewarding experience as I do my best to help students of all abilities to reach their maximum potential. Although unable to offer as many hours this year due to my new role within my College, I still feel it important to offer a service that really can transform the lives of students who just need that extra `push` outside of the school day.
I believe that for learning in English to occur, students need the context to be relevant to their own lives and experiences something that I strive to achieve in all of my teaching and tutoring sessions. I have an extensive knowledge and understanding of the National requirements at both Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, whilst also possessing the skills to ensure that students understand how improved awareness of the English language can have a positive impact on their future careers.
The fact that I gained a First Class Honours degree in Psychology prior to training as an English teacher also allows me to offer my expertise to A Level Psychology students approaching their AS and A2 examinations and helps to ensure that my teaching remains as innovative as possible.
