I am a retired teacher of science with over 18 years experience of teaching pupils aged 11-16, across the ability range. I have a BSc (Hons) Chemistry with Mathematics and a PGCE Chemistry with Combined Sciences. I am an Examiner for Pearson, GCSE Chemistry. I have received an award from the Joint Council for Qualifications in recognition for over 5 consecutive years as an examiner.

In the last 8 years I have been an examiner for Pearson (previously known as Edexcel). I have marked higher papers for GCSE Chemistry and also BTEC Levels 2 and 3 Applied Science. In 2017 I also marked the summer year 10 GCSE Progress tests for chemistry. This was an exam offered to year 10 pupils to give them an insight to the new GCSE Chemistry exams in 2018.

All of this has enhanced my tutoring and enable me to guide tutees on expectations required to successfully gain high grades


I have tutored pupils up to GCSE level in Separate Sciences, Combined Science and Mathematics. My approach to teaching has always been that every child matters and I always encourage pupils to reach their full potential. I recognise that everyone has their own style of learning and I will adapt my teaching to meet the needs of the individual pupil. I am willing to travel within 10 miles of my home.
I can tutor year 5/6 pupils for preparation for SATs, entrance exams and for extra confidence before they start high school.

Since the Covid 19 lockdown I have been tutoring pupils using Skype and Zoom. I will continue to do this for the foreseeable future until it is safe to do face to face lessons
