Albert Einstein said; It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge. As I continue on my career in education, this statement reiterates to me the importance of creativity in the classroom. I enjoy combining my vast range of experiences and my capability as a teacher to encourage confidence and enthusiasm.

Experience: I have worked extensively with children of all ages for over eight years and I have taught in both primary and secondary schools, independent and state schools. I have relished working with children in a variety of environments and it has been this, which has inspired me to embrace teaching as a career.
I am currently a teacher in a local independent school and teach Key Stages 1, 2 and 3. I co-ordinate and plan an exciting curriculum for Performing Arts throughout the school ensuring that planning caters for those who have specific learning needs and stretches the most able. I use humour and energy to encourage enthusiasm. I ensure children are engaged in discussions and primed to contribute by introducing a system of choosing names rather than relying on those who consistently volunteer their opinion. I plan challenging, inclusive and vibrant lessons and use ICT and the interactive whiteboard along with other resources to inspire and engage students. I differentiate all of the activities within my lessons and I follow students IEPs to ensure their needs are being met. I monitor and record student progress and achievements and get them to set their own targets and goals. I have high expectations of behaviour and use formative and summative assessment and the principles of AFL to evaluate students progress. I always demonstrate good practice and adhere to the Schools Code of Conduct to ensure I am a role model professionally around the school. I write end of term reports, which show detailed understanding of individual performance and set clear targets for improvement. As well as encouraging independent learning and critical thinking, I have a strong concern for the emotional and mental wellbeing of the students and I have an interest in pastoral roles. I promote a Growth Mind- Set learning culture through every aspect of school and understand that intelligence presents itself in various forms, which is why I am constantly seeking ways to improve my craft based on progressive changes in the curriculum, and keep up to date with curriculum developments.
