Information about Charlotte
I am a graduate of Biomedical Science and Psychology currently working as an Assistant Psychologist. I have over 5 years` experience working in specialist education provisions with young people with learning difficulties/disabilities and social emotional and mental health needs.
My experience covers early years through to GCSE, across a range of subjects and roles including Tutor, Teaching Assistant and Cover Supervisor. Currently I am working within children`s mental health where many of my service users are young people with learning disabilities/ difficulties and Autism and I regularly liaise with teaching staff.
Having worked extensively with young people who have additional needs, I am offering my time to help them overcome their difficulties allowing them to make the most of their learning opportunities and achieve their potential. Working young people, I have become aware that everyone is different when it comes to learning therefore, I aim to teach in a way that suits the individual rather than enforce my preferred methods.

O dear, Charlotte - that did not go well. Although I`ve no doubt you`re a hard working and diligent and intelligent young lady, in my opinion you lack the people-skills necessary in a good tutor and I`ve met many.
Sadly you took offence at any parental involvement at all. Charlotte, it is quite usual for a parent to observe, at close-quarters, any first tutorial. This is because any normal parent would want to ensure their child is safe, confident and comfortable with their tutor. Unfortunately you could barely conceal your displeasure with this arrangement and met my gaze with disdain bordering on scorn.
As an experienced teacher and communicator I have had to handle hundreds of situations all over the world with students of many levels and it`s vital to develop a rapport with your class even if it`s a class of one. You lack confidence; you`re hesitant, nervous and uncertain and exude an air of awkwardness. Again, any effort on my part to bring light-relief in a strained teaching atmosphere - when the natural rhythm of the lesson permitted - was seen by you as `interference`.
Charlotte, unless you realise that you`re going to encounter anything from entirely remote parents to fully-involved parents and everything in between...you`re going to have an extremely short career as a tutor.
From reading your bio to communicating with you by email or text I quickly formed the opinion that you may have had to battle dyslexia and this is laudable and may even be an asset and I was more than willing to overlook this because it`s often accompanied with high-intelligence and an inventive mind. However such good will was met with no such grace...after a `consideration` from you my daughter and I were (by text) summarily and curtly dismissed. You didn`t even possess the wisdom to relieve yourself of the burden of helping us by being polite to your customer in the full-knowledge that a review was going to be a forthcoming.
Poor show, Charlotte.
Tutors Response :
I appreciate the feedback however may I ask what gives you the opinion I have dyslexia, as I can assure you this isn`t the case though this should make no difference to the quality of a tutors skills providing it can be over come.
Parental involvement is welcomed and to some degree expected however the level I experienced was greater than I have previously come across. My reaction, I feel was just considering I felt offended and undermined in front of a student who had met me minutes earlier.
I would also like to also add my career has spanned four years (not limited to my time on this, site) and therefore has been anything but short and has been very successful.
