Information about Amanda
I am a fully-qualified teacher of modern languages (French, Spanish and English as an Additional or Foreign Language). I also tutor English Language and English Literature at A-level.
Languages & literature are passions of mine and I wish to share with others the joy of learning these subjects and the worlds that they open up for us.
I have taught at all secondary levels including within a school setting, however, I now specialise in tutoring adults and A-level students.
Availability: I am able to tutor during weekday mornings, afternoons and have some early evening slots. My availability during these times does change as bookings are made, so please do get in touch to check this.
At the present time and with current circumstances, all my lessons are online (a service that I usually offer, in any case). However, in more normal times, I am able to tutor at your home if you are in the Broadstairs area, and can do so for small groups as well as one-to-one students.
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: Learning languages has been a lifelong passion and study of mine. On leaving school, I completed an administrative course with a linguist component (learning business French and German), then later I gained a University-level Diploma in French, then a First Class BA (Hons) degree in Modern Language Studies, followed by a PGCE Secondary 11-18 (Post-graduate Certificate in Education) in Spanish with French.
I worked for several years within state education as a secondary teacher, teaching languages (French and Spanish) from KS3 to A-level, as well as Culture. As part of my teacher training, I also taught English as an Additional Language in Belgium and Holland and gained experience of teaching languages at primary school and instructing primary school teachers on modern language teaching methodology.
Over the past three years I have moved my focus onto tutoring, teaching adult learners and secondary school students from GCSE to A-level or IB (International Baccalaureate) and EAL (English as an Additional Language). I have also spent two of those years teaching (mostly secondary level) students English as an Additional/Foreign language at an International school.

My partner and I have been having Spanish lessons with Amanda for the last couple of months. She has an excellent style of teaching which has greatly assisted us in beginning to learn the language. Her lessons are always good fun and I would highly recommend her.
