Information about Tom
I am an alumnus of Leeds University, from which I graduated with a 1st Class Honours degree in Arabic and Middle Eastern Studies, before which I attended Westminster School – which continues to be top of the Financial Times league table.
I have also graduated with a distinction from the Two Year Professional Acting Course at the world’s oldest drama School: L.A.M.D.A.
Experience: I have tutored a number of private clients ranging from 11+ to Degree Level. I enjoy tailoring each lesson to the individual`s needs and circumstances.
I believe that the parents of any student have a vital role to play in the success of the tutoring and must be kept informed at all times. The happiness of all parties is crucial.
Availability: My availability is flexible dependent upon your requirements: and includes weekday nights and weekends anywhere within zones 1 & 2. (Further travel is possible with a travel supplement.)
Willing to travel: 10 miles
Experience: 2013-14 I have been helping an 11 year old girl make the transition from primary to secondary level at Highgate School. We have been focusing on her: literary skills, including in depth poetical analysis, essay writing, and comprehension techniques presentation skills, including the use of body language and vocal authority, and key ways to communicate clearly to large groups and also on improving memory recall.
2012 I worked closely with director Udayan Prasad at the London Film School to enhance the creative, technical, and particularly the verbal communication skills of the aspiring directors. I was asked to provide them with real time (during the filming process) and post analysis feedback on their prowess as directors.
2012 I tutored a 20 year old female student at SOAS. We primarily focused on her essay writing and referencing skills, with secondary attention paid to historical and political source analysis, and thirdly we covered the rudiments of learning Arabic (both Modern Standard and Egyptian colloquial).
2005-06 I coached two final year school leavers (both at Westminster) for Oxbridge entry. We paid special attention to their verbal communication skills. Secondary focus was placed on poetical analysis and essay writing techniques.
