Andrew – 11+, GCSE & A-Level English, History and Drama Tutor

I am an experienced and dedicated tutor specialising in English Language, English Literature, History, and Drama at Key Stage 3, GCSE, and A-Level. My goal is to inspire confidence, foster independent learning, and help every student achieve their full academic potential in a supportive and engaging environment.

My lessons are carefully tailored to each student`s individual learning style, combining creativity with academic rigour. Through discussion, debate, close textual analysis, and interactive teaching strategies, I develop critical thinking, strengthen essay-writing skills, and equip students with the knowledge and examination techniques required for success. Whether a student is striving for the highest grades or rebuilding confidence after setbacks, I adapt my teaching to meet their individual needs and aspirations.

Alongside my private tuition practice, I have extensive experience as a cover teacher in secondary schools, delivering lessons in GCSE and A-Level English Literature, History, and Drama. This has provided me with a comprehensive understanding of the current curriculum, examination specifications, and the skills students need to excel in today`s classroom.

I offer in-person tuition throughout Hampton Court, Teddington, Twickenham, Kingston, and the surrounding areas, as well as online lessons for students across the UK. I also provide intensive support during school holidays, helping students consolidate learning, strengthen subject knowledge, and prepare confidently for examinations.

Over the years, I have successfully supported students from a wide range of leading independent and state schools, including Tiffin School, The Tiffin Girls` School, Radnor House School (Registered Tutor), Orleans Park School, Waldegrave School, St James Senior Boys` School, Teddington School, St Bernard`s Catholic Grammar School, and Tolworth Girls` School. I have also prepared numerous pupils for the 11+ English examination, helping many secure places at highly selective grammar schools.

My students have consistently achieved outstanding progress, with many improving from predicted Grades 2 or 3 to Grades 5 and 6, while higher-attaining students have progressed from Grade 7 to Grade 8 and beyond. Parents frequently commend my enthusiasm, professionalism, creativity, and ability to engage and motivate even the most reluctant learners.
