I am a highly experienced tutor with a background of over 20 years teaching hundreds of students from all the main schools in Harrow as well as surrounding grammar and private schools. I teach Maths classes from primary school age up to GCSE as well as preparation for 11+ entrance exams to top schools. Students learning from me have produced excellent results up to grade 9/A* in Maths GCSE and many students studying for 11+ have gained places for top schools including Queen Elizabeth`s, Watford Grammar, Henrietta Barnet and full scholarship to North London Collegiate. Some of students arriving in primary school and learning with me until GCSE have achieved exceptional results at the top of their school as the cumulative benefit of our work together compounds.

My approach
I often identify where my students are not being well served by their school classroom either because they are not getting enough attention and being left behind, or conversely they are not being challenged enough. In either case, their potential is being wasted and they benefit from my tailored approach which helps them excel. I assess my students abilities, strengths and weaknesses as well as what they are learning in school before providing uniquely customised and tailored lessons that best suit their needs and individual situations. No two students will be taught in exactly the same way.

I set homework after each lesson that reinforces what the student has learned and challenges them further so they are able to return to the next lesson with questions and there is a continuous feedback process at work which has proven to be extremely effective. I use a range of teaching materials built up over many years. I also consult with parents on their child`s progress if required.

The most rewarding aspect of my work is that it is fairly common for once struggling students who come to me to end up developing greater confidence, moving ahead of their class at school and even gaining an enjoyment and appreciation for Maths that influences their future choices and career paths. I have seen students go on to study at top universities where their Maths journey with me was instrumental.

Experience: 20+ years of experience tutoring students of wide ranging abilities from schools around Harrow and further afield. Students have travelled from as far as several hours outside London to attend my lessons in the past. The majority of my students arrive by word of mouth, having known a friend or relative taught by me. I have over the years taught multiple generations from extended families due to the positive experience of my students and the reputation and extended network this has provided me. I can also recommend tutors for other subjects on request.

Prior to being a full time tutor, I worked at a travel company in London and previously had a career at a leading engineering company whilst living in Sri Lanka.
