Information about Joshua

Hello, and welcome to my profile!

I am an Admissions Strategist for the one of the world`s leading education companies.
In this role I help HNW and UHNW clients from around the world gain entry into the best universities in the world.

From 2015-2018 I was a Master of Economics, Business Studies and Philosophy at one of the country`s most prestigious and historic public schools.

In this role I taught A levels and my own elective course in Philosophy, as well as coaching rugby, basketball and athletics.

As a teacher, my approach can be summarised by the following:

1) Knowledge. By knowing the subjects I teach, as well as the precise demands and correct technique for each exam board, I ensure my tutees study only the necessary material, and that they understand this at a much deeper level, leading to greater retention rates (and ultimately, higher scores).

2) Rapport. By getting to know the students I teach, in particular, their particular learning style and skillset, I can harness their strengths and bring up any weaknesses.

3) Practice. Through regular exam practice and assessment, students can see exactly how much they have progressed. With detailed feedback. they know exactly where they need to improve. Over time, students gain proficiency and become comfortable with the examination process, building confidence for the real thing.

Availability: I currently have space for up to three additional clients.
Please contact me and I will do my best to find a mutually convenient time.

Willing to travel: 20 miles

Experience:
10 years` experience
An abundance of outstanding references from clients and employers
Proven history of dramatic improvement following my intervention, an increase in 2 grades as standard, (C-A typical)
Well over the much-quoted `10,000` hours experience in education
A true professional and student of this vocation

Admissions Strategist, Crimson Education - 2019- Present

Master (Teacher) of Economics, Business Studies and Philosophy - Harrow School- 2015-2018

Oxbridge Applications: Tutorial Group Leader, Premier Service Mentor, Subject Tutor. 2013-Present

Generating Genius: Oxbridge Admissions Seminar Leader, July 2017- Present

Private Tutor, Self-Employed: 2012-Present

__________-

I graduated from St Benet’s Hall, Oxford, in 2012 with II.I in PPE. I maintained an interest in all three disciplines, though excelled particularly in philosophy, where I scored the top mark in the year in one of my papers. I won a scholarship to undertake my research in Philosophy at the University of Birmingham in 2013.

I began tutoring privately in 2012, and since then have had success I could not have predicted.
I have worked with clients across the globe, as a freelancer and for high-profile agencies such as Oxbridge Applications and Winland academy/Sower Education group. I spent three years honing my craft at one of the world’s most prestigious schools, Harrow School (London). My role involved a demanding array of academic, pastoral and sporting responsibilities. As well as teaching, I was a House Tutor in Headmaster’s boarding house and Head of the School Basketball Program.
In these three years, I learnt a huge amount about teaching, mentoring and coaching.

Alongside my work at Harrow School, I also took on roles delivering admissions consultancy for non-profit organisations such as Generating Genius and the Lumina Foundation. Being from a working-class background myself, I am very conscious of how many talented individuals can slip through the net. It gave me great joy to provide invaluable advice to such individuals.

I left Harrow this year to explore other avenues in education and pursue my creative interests. Since leaving, I have authored a book on UCAS personal statements and taken on a various roles in admissions consultancy and private education, including my most recent role as a full-time Admissions Strategist for the world`s leading admissions agency.

Education is my vocation.

Outside of academia, I have two loves: writing and sport. I publish several times a week to my own website, and my first volume of poetry will be published in 2019. In the sporting realm, I have had some hard-won successes. I won two Rugby Blues for Oxford, had the honour of representing England at U18 and University level, and played semi-professionally in the years 2015-2017.
