Information about Inez

My name is Inez - former student of the Royal College of Music Junior department and a recent graduate, with a passion for music and teaching. Since the age of 15 I have taught piano part time and I have experience preparing students, especially young learners, for ABRSM examinations. Although it is not necessary to do grades, I believe it`s a good place to have goals to aim towards.

I can teach beginner to intermediate levels of students of all ages. I am happy to travel to teach, or to have student come to my home as I live very locally to the Highbury and Islington/ Angel area in London.

Availability: I am available weekday evenings and weekend during the days. Preference for Mondays and Tuesday. In some cases can also do weekdays daytime- depends on a prearranged circumstances.

Willing to travel: 5 miles

Experience: I have Grade 8s in piano and cello (ABRSM), Grade 5 musical theory, and attended the Royal College of Music Junior department in London and was a music scholar for my school for 7 years.

I mostly teach beginner or intermediate levels of all ages up to grade 6 in classical piano and cello. I have experience especially with preparing for ABRSM exams. Testimonials are available upon request.

I believe learning a musical instrument should be a fun, positive experience. It also teaches discipline (especially with young children) that can be transferred to other aspects of life.

I encourage parents who want their children to learn an instrument to observe lessons at least initially to have an insight into what goes into productive practice. With younger learners I implement an `award` system (usually a sticker book) to encourage children to achieve goals and as a way to see progress.

With older beginner learners I have a professional approach and am open to any questions or queries about the piano or cello and give many recommendations of repertoire outside the ABRSM system.

Above everything I believe anyone can learn an instrument with a little dedication and time.It is never too late to start - a passion for music is all you need.
