Information about Robert
I am a Science teacher who works at [contact detail removed]. I teach Biology and Chemistry to GCSE and all three sciences to Key Stage 3. As an Assistant Head of Year, I also have a strong understanding of the pastoral side of learning and how this can further impact progress that students make.
I firmly believe that the key to success is a solid understanding of the curriculum. I believe that lessons should be designed with developing subject knowledge at the core. I believe that this core knowledge should be interleaved and used in conjunction with past paper questions to help your child see the benefit of improved knowledge on exam performance.
Availability: I am available evenings through the week and weekends.
Willing to travel: 20 miles
Experience: Having qualified as a Teacher of Science in 2011, I have 8 years experience delivering Biology, Chemistry and Physics to Key Stage 3 and GCSE.
During this time, I have taught a diverse range of pupils from different backgrounds with a wide range of abilities. I am meticulous in my approach to teaching, ensuring that the content I cover with pupils covers all aspects of the curriculum, including subject content, mathematical skills and How science works skills which are essential components of the new GCSE 9-1 examinations. I have also completed Lead Teacher initiative (Teach First) which looks at developing outstanding teachers sharing best practice across schools.
Furthermore, I also contribute to the PGCE (Teacher training) course in conjunction with Liverpool Hope University. This involves me interviewing and assessing candidates prior to approving or declining their applications. I also deliver lectures which helps teachers develop their teaching strategies in order to become more effective practitioners. Currently, I am training to be a teaching consultant around the North West specialising in outstanding science teaching.
I am currently teaching Science at Calderstones school where I am the Assistant Head of Year 8, responsible for attendance and progress.
