Information about Amy

I have had a lot of experience looking after children and teenagers I have always managed to keep the balance between keeping them safe and ensuring they have a great time whilst in my care.

As a primary teacher I am friendly, approachable and always reliable. I mainly work with EYFS and KS1 children but I have experience with older children and teenagers. I am patient and understanding with all the children I teach.

I became a qualified teacher in 2019 and I am also a qualified TESOL tutor. I have worked as a private tutor in the past for GCSE English. I am great at helping with homework in all subjects but my particular strengths are in English and Humanities.

My passion is History of Art I studied my BA at Reading University and graduated in 2014. Afterwards I worked in Reading Museum for a year running craft clubs for children. I have absolutely loved arts and crafts ever since! My other hobbies include photography, antiquing and travel.

My teaching style is informal and will focus on speaking and reading. By using games, presentations and visual aids my lessons will be fun and adapted to your interests and abilities.

I have experience teaching GCSE English Language and English Literature. I am very familiar with the syllabus and the literature. I am a great lover of Shakespeare`s plays and can help with understanding his use of language - which can be tough! I can also help with exam revision in any of these areas and I am great with revision and exam techniques.

My lessons will be well organized and structured to meet the needs of the student, but we can plan the program and materials together to ensure individual needs are met. Everyone learns differently and at their own pace and so none of my lessons are ever the same!

If you would like to meet for an informal chat about your learning needs please get in touch, I won’t charge for the first meeting! Please send me your details including your name, location, age and learning requirements and I will be sure to get back to you promptly. Thank you!

Availability: Please do get in touch, I have listed my availability below:

Saturday - Sunday (10am-2pm).
Available all hours in school holidays.

Unfortunately I cannot tutor from my own home but I have my own car and I will be more than happy to come to you.

Willing to travel: 15 miles

Experience: I have immense respect for education and I absolutely adored school from a very early age. I was very fortunate to go to two lovely schools and I barely missed a day. I thought I`d finished with education in 2014 with a BA degree in History of Art from the University of Reading but I went back to university to study a PGCE in Primary Education. I am currently working as a Reception teacher in Hailsham. My job is challenging at times but extremely rewarding.

I have worked with children and adults in schools and museums, which has given me the ability to adapt to different situations and think on my feet. I am an enthusiastic and confident speaker and I have excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

I have a diverse range of work experience, which includes working with artists and customers in various settings, including art galleries and museums, shops, music festivals and theatre productions. I am able to maintain a friendly manner whilst at the same time being responsible and reliable at all times. I enjoy meeting people and rise to the challenge of new experiences. I have always had a great passion for learning and I hope my students will too!

PGCE in Primary Education

I would highly recommend Amy as an English tutor. My daughter Megan achieved grade B in English Literature and English Language GCSE, exceeding her predicted grades in both, and I have absolutely no doubt that this would not have been possible without Amy`s intervention. She is both passionate and knowledgable and created a positive and fun learning environment which encouraged Megan to thrive and achieve success.

Tutors Response :

I am sorry you feel this way. We never met and I gave you a lot of help with your CV through emails. I think it is unfair that you gave me poor feedback considering the circumstances.
