Information about Jack
I am currently working as an analytical chemist in the ice core analysis labs at British Antarctic Survey in Cambridge after recently completing my PhD in Chemistry at the University of Manchester. I graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2014 with a first class Masters degree in Chemistry (MSci).
I have experience teaching and tutoring maths and science subjects from GCSE through to degree level Chemistry. My strengths lie in my enthusiasm and approachability as well as being passionate about enabling others other to reach their full potential.
I believe that the key to learning and improving at any level is understanding and my ability to break down and communicate concepts clearly will help any student to improve.
I have always received great feedback and like to make lessons fun and engaging, whilst providing my insight on how best to prepare for exams and achieve better results.
Availability: Weekday evenings. I am quite flexible and can accommodate any weekday evening up to 8pm.
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: I have experience of tutoring and teaching students from pre-GCSE (year 9) through to Degree level over the past 6 years.
I have recently tutored maths and science topics at GCSE level, as well as Chemistry at A-Level. My previous role as a graduate teaching assistant at the University of Manchester involved teaching to groups as well as plenty of one-on-one tuition and marking examinations and coursework. Additionally, I was involved in creating and implementing new laboratory experiments which shows my ability to create unique and engaging material for students to learn key concepts.
I also volunteered at the University of Manchester in outreach programmes, where I travelled to schools in the North West to teach fundamental and examined topics such as spectroscopic techniques at both GCSE and A-Level.

Jack is a very professional and supportive teacher. He understood where my daughter is in need of help with her learning and designed classes that would suit her requirements accordingly.

Jack is reliable and personable, my 15 yr old son likes him and his teaching style. My son has told me he learns more in an hour with Jack than a week of Science at school. Would highly recommend.
