Information about Martha
Hello! My name is Martha and I am an Art and Design teacher and fine artist. My personal specialism is within drawing and painting, however, I also have a degree in technical sculpture. My personal work focuses on perfecting the craft of observational drawing, combined with the creativity of using imagination and memory to fuel more interesting artworks that symbolise personal experiences. I am continuously practicing my own work and exhibiting when possible and am a firm believer that we learn from each other as creatives.
My teaching style will focus on the technical aspect of drawing, teaching you to practice drawing what you see, rather that what you think you see through a range of techniques. I will also focus on your technical ability in the application of different mediums such as clay, watercolour, oil, gouache, acrylic, dry materials such as pencils and charcoals and printmaking.
I will support you in whatever goal you have for getting tuition. Whether that is to work on your creative technical ability for any age group, assistant in successful artist analysis, coursework development for GCSE and A-level and portfolio advice for higher education.
I offer tuition either at my home next to Lloyd park in Walthamstow, virtually through zoom or at your home.
Willing to travel: 2 miles
Experience: I am entering my third year of teaching Art and Design to all key stages across secondary school, age 11-19. I love working with young people, and I am always excited about the work that my students make. Having experience within art education gives me a sound understanding for the requirements for successful GCSE and A-Level grades, alongside the preparation needed for portfolios for further education. I currently have students working at A`s and A*`s in both GCSE and A-Level, and feel confident in how to push them to secure those grades.
I also have experience teaching adults in a weekly creative workshops setting for a mental health charity, as well as for staff members at my school in a weekly art club. Previously we have created ceramics, Lino prints and practiced figure drawings.
Whether you want tuition for career development or to practice for your own personal enjoyment, I would love to work with you.
