Information about Rebecca

Hi, I`m Rebecca and I have a degree in French, Spanish and Catalan from Durham University (BA Hons 2:1). I have been privately tutoring for 7 years.

I am extremely hard working, determined, and motivated, and strive to achieve the best results for all my students. Together we can get you the results you want. I believe that it is important to recognize the different needs of different individuals, which is why I always make an effort to really get to know my students as we learn, so that we can find a way to work that is both enjoyable and rewarding for both of us.

As a keen linguist myself, who understands the struggles every language-learner has to go through, I have extensive experience teaching French, Spanish, Catalan and English at a wide range of levels. This ranges from introducing complete beginners to the language to helping university students with their studies. I always tailor my language lessons to each student`s individual needs, whether they be solely grammar related or general help preparing for an exam.

I am also a dedicated musician, having achieved ABRSMdip flute, and grade 8 Saxophone, piano and voice, whilst studying at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. I have been teaching both flute and saxophone privately for 5 years and am currently seeking new pupils at any level.

I also teach music theory up to grade 8. This can also be combined with practical instrumental lessons.

Having gained 12 GCSE`s myself (all A*s) and 4 A-Levels (French A, German A, Music A*, MAthematics A*), I am also available to tutor the following subjects, with which I have approximately 7 years experience:

Maths (KS2, KS3, GCSE)
English (KS2, KS3, GCSE)
Music (GCSE, A Level)

I have tutored pupils from KS2 through to A-level and University, as well as mentoring and helping students through the university process (personal statements, interviews etc.)

I have experience tutoring both children and adults, as well as experience teaching English as a foreign language during my time living in Costa Rica, France and Spain, where I set up English classes for local residents.

Rebecca was punctual, courteous and professional. She was also very patient with my 5 year old and helped further her interest in learning to play the flute.

Rebecca provided just what we asked for (help with my son`s French A2 (AQA) oral). She was reliable, honest, and punctual; she gave constructive feedback. I would definitely recommend her.

Rebecca has given a few sessions in French to my year 10 son and she has already been tremendously helpful. She worked out very quickly what extra support he needed and went through the tenses with clarity and patience. She is encouraging, aware of the parts which are confusing, and understanding of his mistakes. I would recommend her as a tutor.
