Information about Charlotte
As a mother of three children who have all experienced difficulties with anxiety, I offer a sensitive and supportive approach, whatever your childs needs and abilities are. I teach in a purpose built studio classroom located in our garden which ensures a calm, safe space for students. By breaking learning into smaller steps, I ensure that children can experience success and pride in their achievements and grow in confidence. I believe that plenty of praise and positive reinforcement are an essential part of successful teaching, along with a sense of humour and fun. I aim to make each session as enjoyable and interesting as possible.
Availability: I am available Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday afternoons between 3.15pm and 4.30pm. I can also offer sessions between 6pm - 8pm on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I am available for sessions on Saturday mornings between 9am and 1pm.
Willing to travel: Home Only
Experience: I graduated in 1994 with a first class BEd Honours Degree in English and Education from Homerton College, Cambridge University. I secured my first teaching job teaching Year 3 in a first school and moved after two years to gain more experience in a larger primary. I taught in Year 4 and Year 5, becoming year leader for a team of teachers and English subject co-ordinator. After having my first child, I returned on a part time basis to teach an after school English masterclass for high attaining Year 6 pupils, with the aim of securing top SATs results and 11 plus success. As my family grew, I gave up teaching to become a full-time mum. In 2010, once my children were old enough, I returned to work part-time as a one-to-one tutor of maths and English and experienced working in two different schools in this role. Whilst I have worked throughout Key Stage 2, I have considerable experience preparing children for the SATs tests at the end of Y6. I have now decided to use this experience to work from home as a one to one tutor for primary aged children.
