Information about Thomas

I am self employed and I run my own business providing Social Media Marketing services, owning 50% of this company. Although I am not particularly passionate about social media marketing, or even social media in general. I do however thoroughly enjoy managing, growing and expanding the business to work with more like-minded individuals. I don`t spend any time in actually providing the services (that`s my business partners job!)

As this business is expanding, I am able to assign some major roles and tasks to those that we work with, providing them with more opportunities and also giving myself more time to focus on my true passion, tutoring mathematics!

I`ve tutored maths for 8+ years now and I plan to keep doing for the rest of my life.

Availability: As I am self employed I am very flexible. If you have time during the day that would be best for me. But I understand most GCSE students will only have time after school or on the weekends. Just let me know the best time for you.

Willing to travel: 50 miles

Experience: My Dad is a professor at Bristol University and a tutor at Wycliffe College. He introduced me to maths tutoring 8 years ago during my A-levels. He runs maths tuition group sessions during the holidays of 2-5 students at a time. At the age of 17 I helped him with tutoring his GCSE students and I fell in love with teaching and grew an even stronger passion for mathematics. For over 8 years now I have been helping him with these group sessions and we have become a great team. With the two of us, we can have larger groups and give each student more attention. My main role in these sessions is to focus on 1 or 2 students at a time who are struggling in certain areas or who have learning disabilities such as dyslexia.

This experience enabled me to become a one to one tutor as I grew such a strong passion for tutoring. I had the skills, the resources and the expertise. I then found my own clients online and I`ve been very successful in helping my students achieve the grades they where aiming for, or higher. For some students, I have helped them discover that they do in-fact have a passion for mathematics!

I have learnt from the best, My Dad is a true expert at this, even now 8 years later I frequently come to him for his expertise and we both discuss and share knowledge and resources.

I believe I am very good at providing a calm and focused lesson for my students. I want my students to enjoy the lessons rather than feel pressured and stressed. I have also proven to be very good with students that have learning difficulties such as dyslexia. I have dyslexia myself so I understand the struggles they may go through.

We`ve been using regular on-line tutoring with Tom for our son for some more advanced GCSE Maths help. We were a bit unsure of using an on-line form of tutoring compared to ftf, but our experience has been fantastic with Tom. He absolutely knows his subject, preps thoroughly for every lesson and has a great rapport with our son. The line is as clear as if he were sat in the room, and we`ve had no tech issues at all using on-line. Would definitely recommend Tom. Many thanks.
