Information about Heidi

I am an experienced Oxford graduate who can teach a variety of subjects from Key Stage 1 up to A-level. I tailor tutorials closely to student needs and desired outcomes, building up knowledge of taught material in line with exam board specifications. I ensure students gain knowledge of what they need to do, as well as the confidence and experience to apply knowledge broadly. Overall, this translates into high-scoring exam scri pts and admissions success.
I have A-levels in chemistry, mathematics, physics, and biology. I have a particular aptitude for mathematics, physics, and chemistry. I scored highest in my year for physics, winning an Ogden prize in 2018, as well as full UMS in some of my mathematics A-level examinations. I have experience working at the Lovell radio telescope in Macclesfield, with a strong interest in radio astronomy.
At the same time, I am also highly skilled in written communication, having recently graduated from Oxford with a first class honours degree in Archaeology and Anthropology. I can therefore also help with writing (both creative and academic), reading, and critical thinking. I have been invited to speak at various conferences (at Oxford University, King’s College London, and the Royal Anthropological Institute in London), and am currently a fellow of the Royal Anthropological Institute.
I am a rare candidate for tutoring as I have received offers from both Cambridge (Natural Science Tripos at Peterhouse, 2018), and Oxford (Archaeology and Anthropology at Magdalen, 2019). Having succeeded through both admissions processes, I can offer expert and tailored advice on how to best help a student through higher education.

Willing to travel: 3 miles

Experience: I have experience of tutoring both online and in-person at a prestigious academy in Oxford, helping to see students enter private schools and gain excellent grades for university.
I have been tutoring a variety of subjects for some time now. My students range from the 11+, 13+ and common entrance age range up to GCSE, and A-level. I have experience of helping students with essay prizes and Olympiads.
I also offer advice and guidance on university admissions (including Oxbridge), as well as PAT, MAT, UKMAT/BMAT admissions exams.

Across this variety of subjects I can help with, I aim to leave students with not just the ability to perform well, but with holistic critical thinking skills as well. My goal is to produce well-rounded students who enjoy engaging with learning and have confidence in their own abilities. This is achieved through a combination of reiterating material and providing opportunities to stretch and challenge students, encouraging them to learn how to approach difficult problems, and potential failure in order to strengthen them and provide long-lasting excellence.

I have a brilliant knowledge of exam boards and specifications. I offer concise, encouraging and expertly delivered advice, suiting students’ needs and challenging them to work to the best of their abilities.
My approach is also centred on helping students to gain confidence in their own abilities to ensure long term success both inside and outside of school. I am very eager to tailor lessons for students to meet individual needs and access requirements. As I am able to teach a broad range of subjects, I can also adapt lessons to whatever a child needs help with each week.
