Nicki

Hello, my name is Nicki and I have a genuine passion for Psychology and a desire to support others to enjoy and succeed when learning it too. Psychology was by far my favourite A` level at school and this was down to being really lucky to have a wonderful teacher who inspired me to want to follow the same path and enable others to have the same experience of learning.

My heart is very much in education and I feel privileged to work with the future generation and help them to tackle the challenges and opportunities that learning can bring. I have received many cards and letters over the years from students that I have taught expressing their gratitude and this collection is one of my most prized possessions.

I enjoy working one to one with students to really be able to analyse their starting point and see the progress that can be made from acting on very specific feedback. My ethos is that students are capable of creating their own success with the effort and commitment that they give to learning and that I can facilitate this by offering challenge, questions and unconditional positive regard as well as my academic insight, guidance and support.

Experience: I have taught Psychology in an outstanding secondary school for the last 14 years, taking on roles such as Head of Department and Lead Teacher during my time here. I achieved a 2.1 in my Psychology degree (BSc) after studying at Plymouth and consider myself to be a lifelong learner, both in the subject itself and in education and learning about the best ways to teach and give feedback to help my students so they can make progress. I completed a PGCE in post compulsory education and a GTP in secondary school teaching and I have taught 9 different subjects during my career alongside A` level Psychology. As well as being an outstanding teacher and a middle leader within my school, I am a qualified Specialist Leader in Education and I run a coaching programme for staff and students at my school as well as leading teacher training both within and outside of my school. I also work for an organisation that provides professional development and training for teachers, leaders and coaches within education where I facilitate programmes and coach others. I am an examiner for A` level Psychology with AQA and have received positive feedback about the accuracy of my marking.
