Information about Eva

I am a 25 year old Musician and English Literature teacher. I have always been writing and have chronically journaled my life since thirteen, and then picked up the guitar and start songwriting at fifteen. I studied English Literature, Spanish and French during my GCSEs and took them as a higher level subjects during my International Baccalaureate. I then went on to study Songwriting at the Academy of Contemporary Music and am currently studying my MA in Songwriting. I am a full time musician, focusing primarily on songwriting and also writing poetry. All of this makes me very familiar with techniques and forms required from school curriculums - not just studied but applied. I have a lot of real life experience with my students` exams, a love for reading and all things words.

Guitar & Music :

I specialise in the acoustic guitar in most genres, I also play bass and ukulele should that become of interest. I believe the guitar is a fun and easy instrument that everyone can pick up and play and always aim to get my students to be able to play the songs that they want to. This means that although I will guide the classes and take the students through an approach that will get their technique up to the mark, the content and material taught - or at least the goal of playing, is always in the students hands. I try to cover a bit of music theory- and more if the students ask- to also form an understanding of the instrument and music in a wider setting. Although not all students may want to do this, as a songwriter I can also teach composition and help out with general creativity.

Languages :

Being young and a real fan of words and art I connect well with my students and usually excel at opening their minds to the artistry and deeper meaning of the subjects they wish to learn. I mostly work with students undertaking GCSEs and have found it an exceptionally rewarding experience to help them not only write better essays to boost their grades, but to also broaden their horizons of understanding and appreciation for words and the impact they have- this is key to help them actually enjoy the subject and school so they can be successful (in whatever way that means for them). I find the school environment can sometimes make subjects seem two dimensional and I find real joy in getting students to use languages as the open and interpretative art forms they are.

My approach to learning is always geared towards to student and their personal methods of learning and understanding. Obviously I want to help them achieve the best grades they can, but I believe that learning is a joy and privilege and it is much more valuable to help students achieve personal satisfaction and to feel satisfied within themselves. It builds confidence and mental resilience that is a treasured skill to carry through life.

Eva is very warm and good at establishing rapport with the student. She clearly knows her stuff and our son has responded really well.
