Information about Edward
I have a Mechanical Engineering degree from Cambridge and have been tutoring Mathematics, Physics and Engineering since 2012. I am best placed to help someone work through their A-levels but I am also happy to assist with university level Engineering. I work full-time for Dyson Ltd as part of their new Institute of Engineering and Technology, but I enjoy taking on tutees because I love to teach.
Please note that I only travel to my tutees if they live within 1 mile of my home.
Availability: Weekday evenings and any time at Weekends (subject to availability).
Willing to travel: 1 miles
Experience: I have been tutoring since 2012 in Bristol and Hampshire. I have taught students in Maths, Physics and Engineering from GCSE up to first year university standard. My latest role includes providing academic support to university students at the Dyson Institute of Engineering and Technology.
Feedback For Edward (21)
Ned helped me with a critical maths resit as part of my Deck Officer cadet programme.
He is easy to work with, straightforward and makes the complex simple.
With Neds help I managed to pass and can continue with my career.
I would not hesitate to recommend Ned as a Maths tutor
Very knowledgeable on the subject and is capable at explaining things and also able to change the way he teaches if you don`t get it first time round.
A very good tutor who is very patient and thorough. Really good at clarifying concepts and nudging towards practice
Ned was very helpful in supporting our son with his maths A level
he is patient and fun , and explains concepts clearly
arrives on awesome bike- so teenagers do seem to bond ...
so far so good - A at AS - predicted A at A level - fingers crossed
I think Ned is quite outstanding as a tutor. He has been coming to tutor my son in Maths and Physics A-Levels for only about a month but already there is a marked improvement in his overall understanding of these subjects and a noticeable increase in his self-confidence - and even enjoyment of the subjects. Ned brings the subjects to life and uses real life examples to explain difficult theories and problems. I would recommend Ned to anyone and feel very lucky to have found him.
Ned is passionate about his subject and delivers his lessons in a very enthusiastic manner. I have not only enjoyed our sessions but have learnt to approach mathematical challenges in different ways. I`m glad to have had the chance to work with Ned.
Ned is an excellent tutor and nice guy, he helped me pass two exams in mathematics and electrical engineering (I am a second year aerospace technology student). I would defiantly recommend to anyone needing help in these areas.
Ned was a huge help in my A level maths and really helped me push from a C to an A in mere months. Ned has a very effective, straight-forward approach to tackling questions. He takes each question and teaches the core maths behind it. I found that occasionally my basic maths let me down rather than the techniques so Ned took me back to the roots and helped clear everything up.
Ned motivated me when I had a small time frame to work in before the exams and was always reliable and flexible with his tutorials. (Sometimes leaving a lot later than intended!) Neds passion for teaching is evident there was never a question left unanswered.
Ned achieved in less than 3 months what my teachers at college couldn`t in 2 years. Ned made each topic clear and understandable he built my confidence on how to tackle any question that came up and taught me to think about what the question is asking of you.
Above all else, Ned is a fantastic tutor and an incredibly nice guy. I always enjoyed each tutorial and can`t thank him enough for how much he helped me. I cant recommend Ned enough.
My son has not only enjoyed the sessions with Ned, but also came away understanding the subject much more. His confidence levels were much improved. Many thanks and I would certainly recommend him again.
Helped me get through my engineering maths. Explains all bits in detail and a very friendly personality although he gets a little enthusiastic while teaching. I would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for a great tutor.
Ed provided AS maths tuition for my son, who was struggling to keep up at school. The two hour sessions, every other week, made a positive and immediate difference my son`s confidence, and grades swiftly improved and he has decided to continue Maths through to A2. Highly personable and very reliable I would happily recommend Ed to others.
Ned has been tutoring my son in A-Level Maths. He has a huge passion for maths and this has rubbed off on my son, who has gone from reluctantly doing the subject because it`s required for his chosen career, to enjoying and looking forward to maths lessons and homework!
I can`t thank him enough as he has been wonderful. Would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a tutor.
I was vert happy witz the high professionnalisme standards of teaching that Ned uses To tutor m`y tarée sons Mar ,Gary (A levels) and Shems (GCSE ) . He was aware that even they are brothers , they have different personalities .So ,hé adaptes his Way To tutor them accordingly .In addition ,Ned was so friendly that he became over time like a big brother to my sons . I recommend firmly Ned to any parents who are looking for nice and effective tutor .
Thank you for all the great tutoring! I find maths extremely difficult and havnt touched it since school. Thanks to all your help I have achieved the grade I wanted and I can now continue towards the job I want. Extremely good tutor.
Ned is very amiable. He is knowledgeable in the subjects that he has been asked to tutor and he is able to explain topics thoroughly, such that they are fully understood before moving on.
Edward (Ned) has tutored my son for the past 6 months to help prepare him for A level Maths and Physics exams. Ned has been completely reliable and professional, his method was to encourage my son to think for himself rather than just provide answers. I have no hesitation in recommending him very highly. An excellent choice for a tutor.
Maths A2 / Further Maths AS.
Ned acted as my tutor for 6 months, during which he proved to be reliable and very effective.
He allowed me to focus on areas I was struggling with and provided some background explanations that helped my understanding and ability to remember the methods to solve the problems.
I would definitely recommend him as a tutor for anyone else finding A2 Maths challenging.
My son has had the pleasure of receiving tution from Edward (Ned) for many months. Ned is first class (5*) tutor who has an incredible ability to engage and really get in to the subject. His knowledge of Physics is second to none and he made learning fun and ineteresting - my son is now significantly more confident in this subject. We would have no hesitation in personally recommending him to anyone considering a tutor.
Great tutor. Helped me out with some last minute mechanics prior to an exam. Clearly has great enthusiasm and knowledge of the subject. Recommended. Thanks, james
Ned has a great approach to tutoring, he mentors well but also encourages the student to think for themselves and pushes where necessary to get results. He has made a huge difference to my son`s results and attitude to learning. I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Ned to anyone who needs to improve their results in Maths and Physics. A fantastic tutor.
Ned was very knowledgeable, he knew the subjects he was supporting (Maths & Physics) and could relate some of the coursework to real life situations from his work. He was able to adapt to the subject and he was friendly but assertive when necessary.
Ned was reliable, keeping to the appointments he made, and he was flexible, willing to work longer and input extra days when required. He communicated well with the student and provided succinct feedback to parents, offering his own advice on flexing tutoring sessions up or down. Ned was enthusiastic and obviously enjoyed the subjects he was teaching.
