Information about Alida
Hello everyone! Im Italian and Im a big fan of Italian and Spanish language and culture. Ive been living in several countries, therefore I love being around people from different backgrounds and embrace cultural differences.
I hold a Masters Degree in Modern Languages with a specialization in Translation and International Relations, awarded by University of Palermo, Italy. I also qualified as a secondary school teacher in Modern Foreign Languages, at Isabel I University, in Spain.
Availability: Mon-Friday 15:00-19:00
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: I have a solid background in teaching, given that I had been working in a variety of educational settings teaching Italian and Spanish to secondary school students. I also taught in a Language Academy in Italy, preparing students to pass the Italian Language exam. For the last two years, I had been teaching English in a secondary school in Florence in Key Stage 3 and 4.
I believe that using a language is as important as learning a language. For example, I engage students in real communication (Communicative Approach) using authentic materials. Learners participate in activities based on a cooperative approach to learning, and I always provide opportunities to make real communication the focus of language learning. In communicative speaking activities my goal is to give the students a meaningful reason to speak and a purpose for doing so. As a result, my lessons are learner-centred and my teaching style includes flexibility and personalised learning approaches. I actively involve students in the learning process by creating situations and conditions of encouragement, insistence, curiosity and creativity.
