I am also currently in the final part of my top up degree to become a Registered Nurse.

Experience: Over the course of my 10-year professional journey in the field of critical care, I have grown from a healthcare assistant into a registered nursing associate, with the exciting prospect of soon becoming a fully qualified registered nurse in less than six months. With an extensive breadth of experience in critical care, my knowledge and practical expertise have greatly contributed to my academic progress and growth.

Commencing my career as a healthcare assistant in critical care, I was immersed in an environment that demanded compassion, dedication, and a deep commitment to patient care. Working alongside healthcare professionals, I developed a profound passion for critical care nursing, propelling me to seek further advancement and academic opportunities.

Driven by my eagerness to enhance patient outcomes and contribute significantly to the care team, I embarked on the next chapter of my journey as a registered nursing associate. This role expanded my responsibilities and enabled me to engage more actively in patient care. During this transformative period, I refined my skills in administering medications, assisting with procedures, and offering invaluable emotional support to patients and their families.

As a registered nursing associate, I gained exposure to a diverse range of critical care specialties, including intensive care units, emergency departments, and high-dependency units. This exposure granted me a comprehensive understanding of the nuanced healthcare needs of critically ill patients, as well as the critical significance of effective teamwork and communication within high-pressure environments.

Parallel to my practical experience, I embraced the academic journey to complement and fortify my understanding of critical care nursing. Throughout my studies, I have leveraged my extensive experience in critical care to bridge the gap between theory and its real-world application. Drawing upon my wealth of experiences, I have been able to analyse complex information, synthesise knowledge, and succinctly convey my insights in coursework, clinical simulations, and research assignments with remarkable proficiency.

As I approach the culmination of this transformative journey – maturing into a fully-fledged registered nurse – I am deeply grateful for the vast experiences I have accumulated in critical care. These experiences have fostered a holistic perspective on patient care, enabling me to appreciate the multifaceted emotional, physical, and psychological challenges patients face when confronting critical illnesses. This profound understanding, in turn, enriches my academic endeavors by infusing empathy into my work and ensuring that my knowledge and skills are consistently applied to provide the highest quality care for my patients.
