Information about Dean

I trained as a psychotherapist and worked for 30 years with addiction, well being and recovery and then became a tutor. I have worked with over 90 students achieving 2/1`s and 1sts at Imperial, Kings, LSE, UCL, City, Goldsmiths, Regents, Queen Mary, Royal Holloway; as my focus is on scaffolding their confidence.

I offer excellence at Doctorate, Masters and Undergraduate level. Therefore, when students come to me I offer them a complete service in order to build their potential.

Therapeutically trained I can work around anxiety, depression, trepidation and low self esteem. I am used to working with students from North Africa, Middle East, Russia and China for example and so understand some of the challenges around the cultural issues students face.

In terms of myself I worked as a CEO in the wider world as well as being an academic. My published doctorate became a clinical psychology book focusing on violence with
examiners being Tim Newburn (LSE) and Paul Willis (Harvard) - I am therefore a specialist in

Psychology,
Politics,
Criminology,
Development Studies,
Psychotherapy,
Social policy,
Early years
Sociology.
Social Work

With 6 books published I have taught at Kings College (ULU), Birkbeck (ULU), Thames Valley and South Bank Universities.

I was educated at Edinburgh, Kings and Goldsmiths amongst others in a variety of disciplines ranging from Psychology, Sociology. History, Philosophy and I have 4 degrees ranging from a Doctorate to an Undergraduate Degree.

Formerly I taught at a wide variety of universities teaching a number of subjects - Development Studies (SOAS), Addiction Studies (LSBU, Medical Degree (Kings), Forensic Psychology (LSBU(.

My books deal with film studies, politics, sociology, psychology, social policy, criminology along with art and culture. Prior to this I was a CEO of a Hep C/HIV agency, developed the arrest referral, set up the first BAME therapeutic services, GP shared care, first women`s substance use services, and a whole variety of innovations.

Overall I undertook work over 30 years with marginalised people and this led to the publication of four books and numerous articles where I also gained an insight into international development and politics which were incorporated into the publications.

Since 2011 I have been involved in private tutoring and have worked with students at the following insinuations Goldsmiths, Kings, Imperial, LSE, SOAS, Birkbeck, Roehampton, UCL, Queen Mary, Greenwich, Westminster, South Bank, Open University, Erasmus Exchange Programme, Brikbeck, London Met, Regents College - all achieving 2/1 or 1sts.

Availability: I recognise the need to be flexible when working with degree students and can accommodate most people most of the time. I am available from Sunday to Saturday.

Willing to travel: 10 miles

Experience: I have three degrees, a post grad teacher cert, a specialism in young people, an NVQ Level 4 in management and my qualifications derived from being a psychotherapist.

I have taught in a number of universities, trained practitioners and undertaken 1-1 tuition for a number of years. I have taught History, Sociology, Psychology, Development Studies, Criminology and Politics along with Addictions and Forensic Psychology.

I have taught as a private tutor since 2011 and helped over 90 students to achieve a 2/1 or 1st in their chosen subjects.
