Information about Sarah
I am an experienced online tutor and available to teach online.
I also offer small group classes (online) for all key subjects for anyone who cannot go to school during this time. My group classes are available for only 4 pounds per hour for years 1-11.
I work in a small team of tutors and teachers who are all happy to do anything they can to help you out. Feel free to get in touch if you are worried about missing too much during school closures or just would like additional help in any subject.
My name is Sarah and I am an experienced tutor happy to help with your study needs.
I am very passionate about my subjects and I am very good at sharing that passion with my students.
I started tutoring while at University and discovered that I am very good at explaining things in simple terms and my students are taken in by my love for learning. Growing up I never wanted to become a teacher, however recently I have discovered that I was born to do it.
If you are looking for some extra help, please get in contact. I am happy to answer any questions and organise a trial lesson.
Availability: I am available to tutor Monday to Saturday any time of day. I am very flexible to adapt to your schedule. I have set up an online booking system on my own website, which allows you to see my calendar. You can book and reschedule your own lessons any time, so I offer maximum flexibility.
I generally teach at my office, firstly, because travelling to every client takes a lot of time out of the day for teaching, and secondly, because I have a lot more material in my office. In my experience lessons need to be flexible. I have a large collection of books and exercises and I adapt each lesson to what the student wants to do and needs help with.
I do home visits within certain distances around my home and office, mainly during the summer and other quieter times. During the exam period i am generally fully booked every day, so that unfortunatelly there is no time for travelling between locations.
Otherwise I am available online.
Willing to travel: Home Only
Experience: I am very qualified in my subjects (at least to Honours degree level) and so far I have been able to help all my students to improve and get better marks at school, college and university.
My classes usually involve some form of explanation of a specific topic and loads of exercises to help with the understanding and retention of the material. For regular sessions, I go back to certain topics at the beginning of the lesson to do some quick revision, so that the topic remains in the long term memory. wWich topics I cover is completely up to the student and depends on areas of weakness or current material covered in classes. I adapt flexibly to the students ability and go back if previous material is unclear or move ahead if the student is secure in answering questions or completing exercises.
I am aspiring to help as many students as I can and teach not only a specific subject, but also how to learn and develop individual learning strategies that will help the student to manage their own learning and become an independent learner in the long run.
Further, I have worked with students with learning disabilities. I adapt to each students individual needs and develop long and short term goals with them so they can track their own progress.
The subjects I teach the most are:
GCSE and A-level maths
Functonal skills maths
Maths for business and economics (mostly students from the university of portsmouth)
GCSE and A-level business studies and economics (I do 1-2-1 tutoring and teach A-level and business studies classes at an online school)
