Mike is a caring, sympathetic and perceptive tutor. He strives very hard to ensure that the tutee fully understands the concept and gist of a topic before moving onto other areas. Basically, he feels the responsibility of being a tutor, which makes him excellent. Frequently asks if I understood the subject, and insists on repeating (with a different approach) points when he feels that I do not understand something completely.
He is quite strict in a way that does suit both serious and casual tutees.
He is also easy-going, which makes him approachable. He also knows when to apply the right pressure to emphasize the sense of urgency and importance of time - in particular, when there is a short amount of days for tutorials before an exam.
He is also realistic with the goals and aims of a tutee, and he does his best to meet these expectations.
Best for a tutee to come prepared with books, papers and questions before meeting Mike as it makes the tutoring session flow better (instead of scrambling for materials).
I want to give Mike 4.5 stars if this site allowed this option.
Only reason he does not get a full mark is because of punctuality, which was a none issue for myself considering I understand Mike is quite busy with his Medicine degree. But for other people, I believe this might be a problem. Otherwise, he is upfront about his schedules, and is more than happy to arrange a time suitable for both parties.
So, if you are looking for a sincere and fun-but-means-business type of a tutor, who is more than happy (and cable) on taking the time to re-explain topics with different approaches if necessary then Mike is an excellent tutor.
(For those curious, he taught me GCSE Maths)

My daughter is happy with Mikes tuition and the structured way in which this is given and appears more confident in the subject.
