Information about Alastair

I have a diploma for teaching piano with ABRSM as well as a Chemical Engineering degree and PGCE. I have extensive experience with teaching both science and maths and have been an examiner for over ten years.

I am able to help pupils prepare for ABRSM exams if they want to learn piano or just have fun learning and playing pieces that motivate and enthuse.

I am friendly and approachable and keen to help all pupils achieve their goals.

Availability: I am available immediately during the day (including weekends) or in evenings.

Willing to travel: 5 miles

Experience: I have played for over 40 years and successfully taught the piano to a wide range of abilities for several years. I have also been a teacher of science and maths for over 20 years.

We can`t rate Alastair highly enough! He has tutored our daughter for the past 3 weeks and she finds him approachable and engaging, as do we. He has guided and encouraged her, as to the best approach for her to attain the results she requires. Initially the tutoring was for chemistry, but after the second week he suggested extra maths tuition would help her progress in chemistry. He has kept us informed at the end of each session and we are so pleased. Alastair is an excellent tutor, thankyou!
