About me

I’m an experienced, approachable tutor with a strong academic background and direct classroom teaching experience. I tutor Economics, Business Studies, Maths, and 11+ Entrance Exams, working with students from primary level through to A-Level.

I hold a First Class degree in Economics from a top-10 UK university and have been a class teacher in two UK sixth forms, so I’m very familiar with the structure, content, and assessment style of the main UK exam boards, including AQA, OCR, and Edexcel.

Alongside this, I actively work with a national 11+ tutoring provider, which means I’m familiar with the different 11+ exam formats, including GL Assessment–style exams, as well as the differing expectations between grammar schools and independent schools. I attended private schools myself - so I understand the admissions and entrance exam process from both a student and tutor perspective.

Professional Background

Alongside teaching in schools, I also have experience in commercial business roles, including work as a buyer at Harrods, Knightsbridge. This allows me to give students practical context for economics and business concepts, particularly at GCSE and A-Level.

Beyond Academics - What Sets Me Apart

Alongside my academic and teaching background, there are a few things that shape how I work with students and make my approach slightly different from many tutors.

I have a strong interest in how children learn, and over time I’ve spent a lot of time studying learning psychology and reflecting on what helps students truly understand and retain material. This has been especially valuable when working with students who have ADHD or who are on the autism spectrum, where clarity, structure, and pacing can make a significant difference.

I also have a strong musical background, having attended the Purcell School of Music. Years of musical training instilled discipline, patience, and an understanding of how progress happens through small, consistent improvements — principles I bring into my teaching.

Finally, my experience outside education, including work in business roles, allows me to bring a broader perspective into lessons, particularly for older students. I aim to be a positive role model, helping students develop confidence, independence, and good learning habits alongside academic progress.
