I am a Maths Instructor and Data Engineer w. over ten years of teaching experience.

I`ve spent the past five years in the data industry working as a Data Engineer, Data Scientist, and Data Architect. I perform teaching work alongside my primary work duties inc. mentoring junior technologists, teaching statistics to Data Scientists, and delivering presentations on up and coming technologies. I work closely with related technologies regularly inc. Python and SQL.

I love sharing deep mathematical insights w. my students just as my PhD supervisor did to me. I aim to make lessons interactive and goal-oriented. Lessons are delivered in 50 minute batches. They consist of breaking down complex theoretical concepts into simplified parts, followed by examples to solidify understanding of the topic. This is then followed by practice questions/exam practice to strengthen understanding further for the student. I focus on encouraging the student to explore the concepts themselves with me prompting them rather than just writing out a formulae.

I believe in fostering a supportive learning environment that encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. My approach is tailored to each student`s unique learning style and needs, ensuring that they receive the guidance and support necessary to excel in their studies.

I`m willing to teach most areas of Maths and Statistics, including core techniques if you`re studying another subject such as Macroeconomics. This includes:
- Entrance Exams: 7+, 11+, 13+, GMAT, Oxford MAT, SAT, STEP.
- Exam Boards: AQA, CIE, Edexcel, IB, iGCSE, OCR, Scottish Highers, SQA.
- Maths Competitions: UKMT IMC, UKMT Kangaroo.

- 2012 - 2014: Mentored first-year undergraduate students at Sussex University.
- 2011- 2012: Classroom assistant via the First Generation Scholars scheme at the Brighton Aldridge Academy.
- 2014 - 2018: Conducted workshops for undergraduate courses inc. Complex Analysis, Differential Equations, Calculus of Several variables, Group Theory, Linear Algebra, Real Analysis, and Set Theory. This included marking homework and being a test examiner.
- 2016 - 2018: Student support assistant tutor for all Sussex University second year Maths University courses including Algebra, Analysis 2, Calculus of Several Variables, Complex Analysis, Differential Equations, Introduction to Probability, Numerical Analysis 2, Probability & Statistics.

"Going into my second year of economics, the maths requirements rapidly increased, and, due in part to a lack of A-level maths, I found myself struggling. Luckily, I had George to tutor me. His tutoring style was extremely effective, we would discuss beforehand what I wanted to go over, and I would send him any relevant documents from my lectures about things I was not understanding, and he would prepare explanations and worked through examples, and then we would go over similar examples together. We dealt with a wide range of mathematical problems, such as integration by parts, various methods of solving differential equations and comparative static analysis, and all of these topics were handled extremely well and taught excellently. George is punctual and shows a great deal of preparatory work before any lessons, and is then extremely effective at communicating and explaining complicated ideas.
