Information about Eleanor

I am an English graduate from the University of Cambridge, with a Masters in Renaissance Literature. I am passionate about literature in all its forms, and I enjoy helping students at different levels of study to engage with this wonderful subject, to challenge themselves, and to fulfil their academic potential.

Over the past decade, I have worked in film development and production, as a researcher, writer and content producer for two psychoanalytic organisations, and as a writer and researcher for a contemporary artist. I also work as a freelance editor.

I grew up in London, where I still live. I have a high level of French (European framework: B2/C1), and some Italian (B1), and am interested in languages generally: how they evolve, how they are used, and the fantastic variety of literature belonging to them.

Availability: I currently have good availability during the week, and I update this regularly. At the current time, in light of the pandemic, I am carrying out all of my tutoring online. I will continue to do so for the foreseeable future, until it is safe to resume more in-person social interactions and travel.

Experience: I have been tutoring for eight years, and have supported students with their English work at KS2, KS3, GCSE, AS, A2 and undergraduate level, as well as working with children at primary school and preparing for 11+ exams. I have tutored students in their coursework, essay-writing, exam technique and close textual analysis, as well as in general comprehension and grammar. I have helped a wide range of students, from age 7 to 21, including children with English as a second language. I have also tutored students in French at primary and KS2, and students studying Film as undergraduates.

A large majority of my students have gone on to achieve top marks in their exams, and all have made considerable improvements in their grades, understanding and confidence. They have all either met or exceeded their goals. I have helped all of my tutees - whatever their age, stage or particular learning style - to really engage with their subject, to enjoy exploring it, and to gain great satisfaction from their efforts and eventual attainment.
