Information about Adam

I am currently a Geography undergraduate at the University of Cambridge. Following a year of travelling, I began my degree in 2014, and am currently in my second year, graduating in 2017.

I attended Wolverhampton Grammar School for my GCSEs and moved to King Edward VI College Stourbridge to study for my A levels.

Outside of academia I have many interests. I have competed in several sports, of which include tennis, cricket, badminton, rowing, football and hockey. I am also a keen musician and have performed in a variety of orchestras and big bands as a trumpeter. Finally - although not so much since I began my degree - I took part in many theatrical plays during my secondary education.

Availability: I will be pretty much available at any time until the 15th July. Following this date, I will be unavailable for face to face tutoring as I will be abroad researching. I will, however, still be available for online tutoring, be it through Facetime, Skype or a similar means.

Willing to travel: 10 miles

Experience: Geography - University of Cambridge
Due to to its wide, varied and disparate nature, studying Geography covers a broad spectrum of subject areas, from Sociology and Politics, to Chemistry, Biology and Physics.

The structure of the Geography course at Cambridge means that in the first year, there are two compulsory papers which reflect the breadth of the discipline. Topics taught span contemporary human, historical, social and cultural, environmental and physical geography. In addition to these two courses, all students follow a course in `Geographical Skills and Methods`. This involves lectures, laboratory and computer practicals and fieldwork.

In the second year students begin to specialise, yet most maintain an interest in the discipline as a whole. For example, all students are required to take a core paper titled `Living with Global Change` which examines topics including `Living in the Anthropocene`, `Cultures of Risk`, `Climate Change`, and `Volcanology`.

In the third year students study four papers from a choice of twelve. There is no requirement to balance human and physical options, yet it is common that students take a mixture of both. I am fundamentally a human geographer, however, I still maintain a keen interest in physical geography, in particular, volcanology and glaciology.
