Information about Jenny
I am a friendly and approachable primary school teacher, with over two years` experience teaching in KS2 (years 4-6) and over two years` experience in 1:1 tutoring. During my time teaching I have excelled in explaining ideas simply and clearly, trying different methods of explanation if children are taking longer to understand the concepts.
I have a maths degree from the University of Cambridge, so my subject knowledge in this area is particularly strong. I use a mastery-based approach for teaching maths, making sure that children are gaining a deep understanding of each area of maths. My work for the NRICH maths website means that I am familiar with a wide variety of different problem-solving activities for children, and I know how much support to provide to allow children to solve these problems successfully. I firmly believe that all children can succeed as mathematicians, and that maths can be a very fun and rewarding subject for all.
I completed my PGCE in 2014, so during my PGCE I studied different areas of the new curriculum. Because of this, I am very confident with areas such as Year 6 grammar, and have successfully taught grammar, vocabulary and punctuation to a Year 6 class with good results.
Availability: Afternoons before 4pm, and evenings after 6pm.
Willing to travel: 8 miles
Experience: I have three years` experience teaching in Key Stage 2 (years 3-6), and two years` experience of private tutoring.Contact this Tutor
Feedback For Jenny (8)
Jenny is very polite and friendly and put our son at ease immediately. It is very obvious that she is a knowledgable, experienced teacher as she quickly identifies gaps in learning and teaches in a thorough but engaging manner, incorporating games and visual activities. We have just returned from living overseas and feel confident that our son is adjusting effectively to the English curriculum with Jenny`s help.
Very engaging teacher, who communicates well and puts my daughter at ease.
My children have enjoyed working with Jenny and learned a lot from her.
Very reliable and my child enjoys the sessions with Jenny
My 7 yo daughter was doing well at school except in maths, which she really disliked and struggled to grasp the basic concepts of. She has really benefited from the one-to-one tutoring from Jenny, and is enjoying the lessons very much so far. Hopefully in the longer term, developing a sound basis through these lessons will give her the confidence she needs to enjoy the subject in future.
Outstanding! Had all of the resources to make the lessons fun and engaging.
Thorough, firm but fair. Was brilliant with my 11 year old son who lacked focus! Reliable, flexible and trustworthy. Cannot speak highly enough of her. If she taught KS3 we would still be using her, but alas!
Jenny has been tutoring our 8 year old for the past year and we are very pleased with the progress she has been making. Jenny is reliable and always on time. I would not hesitate in recommending her.
she is a great teacher and she is always on time and reliable.
